Battered Women's Support Services Association

Provides telephone-based crisis support and victim services to women dealing with violence and or the effects of abuse, childhood sexual abuse, and adult sexual assault.

Callers receive emotional support, coping strategies, safety planning, community resource information, and referrals to transition houses, medical services, and lawyers. Specialized support for immigrant and aboriginal women is also available.

Provides individual counselling for women currently experiencing abuse or who are survivors of abuse including childhood sexual abuse or adult sexual assault. Services include short-term support and crisis intervention for women who have experienced violence in an intimate relationship, and support to women survivors of Indian Residential Schools and or foster care. Support is available over the phone or in person.

Offers cultural support programs and groups run by Indigenous women for Indigenous women. Support workers use traditional healing practices while working with women survivors of trauma and colonization.

Services include individual and group counselling, victim support, crisis counselling, advocacy and legal information, safety planning, talking circle and drum group. Also offers outreach services to women in need and to those at risk due to health issues such as HIV/AIDS, homelessness, violence and or substance use issues.

Provides individual counselling and group support to women survivors of violence or abuse, and whose first language is Spanish. Women can access support services in their own language. Program also includes emotional support, advocacy and information about the justice and child protection system, crime prevention, and safety planning.

Provides information, referral and individual counselling to lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, queer, transgender and two-spirit women facing abuse from an intimate partner. Provides services to all self-identified women.

Provides mobile crisis support to girl and women survivors of assault and or sexual abuse in the Vancouver Downtown Eastside. Support includes crisis intervention, counselling, safety planning, information and referrals, hospital accompaniments, assistance with shelter and housing, harm reduction supplies, and advocacy.

Offers a variety of drop-in and specialized support groups to women healing from abuse and violence. The groups provide a safe place for women to connect with one another, share information, develop coping and recovery skills, reduce isolation, and plan for life free from abuse. Drop-in groups are offered through the whole year and specialized groups are offered on seasonal basis or based on requests from the women who access the services.
