Canadian Blood Services
Accepts and coordinates blood donations from individuals to help people who have lost blood due to an injury or who have an illness such as cancer, anemia, sickle cell disease, or hemophilia. Also conducts pre-transfusion tests for compatibility and transmissible disease to ensure that blood transfusions are as safe as possible.

Collects voluntarily donated cord blood units from mothers who deliver their baby at BC Women's Hospital in Vancouver, to be used by anyone who needs stem cell treatment.

Stem cell transplants are used to treat diseases and disorders including bone marrow deficiency diseases, inherited immune system and metabolic disorders, aplastic anemia, and certain forms of cancer such as leukemia, lymphomas or myelomas.
