Provides access to non-emergency health information and advice for all residents of British Columbia. Services are available online, by telephone at 8-1-1, and through resources such as the HealthLink BC Files.

The website provides medically-approved information on over 4,000 health topics, symptoms, and over-the-counter and prescription drugs as well as tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and an integrated search and mapping function to more than 4,500 health services in BC. By simply dialing 8-1-1 from anywhere in the Province, people living in B.C. can connect with registered nurses, pharmacists, or dietitians specially trained to answer questions about health topics, identify symptoms, and help determine when to seek a higher level of care.

Provides people living in B.C. with 24-hour access to approved health information and detailed information on health care, mental health and substance use services throughout the province online and by telephone at 8-1-1.

By calling 8-1-1, you can speak to a health service navigator, who can help you find health information and services; or connect you directly with a registered nurse, a registered dietitian, a qualified exercise professional, or a pharmacist. Any one of these healthcare professionals will help you get the information you need to manage your health concerns, or those of your family.

Offers free phone access to registered dietitians who provide a range of food and nutrition services, including individualized nutrition care, education and counselling for health promotion and chronic disease management.

Dietitians at HealthLink BC can answer your healthy eating and nutrition questions and help with connecting to other health care providers programs and services in your community. Callers may contact for conditions like diabetes and heart disease, digestive and allergic conditions, cancer, eating disorders and dysphagia, and infant and child feeding and growth concerns.

Provides access to an online library of easy-to-read fact sheets on many public health and safety topics. BC specific information is highlighted and selected HealthLinkBC files are available in French, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Topics include: childhood and adult diseases; childhood immunizations; environmental health hazards; problems with pests; maintaining septic systems; infant dental care; childhood vision problems, and protection from communicable diseases.

Provides 24-hour non-emergency, confidential health education and advice with a registered nurse who can help you check your symptoms, determine if you should seek further medical attention and provide education about your illness.

When calling 8-1-1 you will be connected with a health service navigator. The health service navigator may be able to answer your question or help you find the information you are looking for, or they may connect you with a registered nurse if you require more detailed information or need health advice.

Provides after-hour access with a pharmacist to answer medication questions such as adverse drug reaction, missed doses, double dose, medication interaction, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and expired medication.

Pharmacists are available 7 days a week after hours, 5 pm to 9 am.

Provides general physical activity information and professional guidance to residents of British Columbia to help them be more physically active and lead a healthier lifestyle. Qualified exercise professionals are trained to prescribe exercise to people of all ages and abilities, including individuals with chronic medical conditions.

Services provided by qualified exercise professionals with undergraduate and or graduate degrees in exercise science, and are certified through the Health and Fitness Federation of Canada and the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology.
