Indian Residential School Survivors Society

Offers residential school survivors, students and intergenerational survivors, their family members, and the community at large a 24-hour crisis line for immediate emotional support, information, and referrals. Referrals include access to crisis counselling, elder support, cultural workshop, grief and loss support, and help with filing missing persons reports.

Provides individual, family and group counselling, circles and crisis support to Residential School Survivors, their families, and those dealing with intergenerational traumas.

The counselling team supports emotional, mental, and spiritual development, along with healing and recovery, through culturally-based values and guiding principles.

Offers the guidance and support of qualified Elders in BC to provide guidance at gatherings, ceremonies, and workshops for cultural and spiritual activities.

Support is available for traditional medicines and therapies, holistic wellness plans, healing and sharing circles, smudging, and sweat lodges. Guidance is also available for traditions and protocol, language, translating, arts and crafts.

Provides safe, confidential, respectful, and non-judgmental information for former Indian Residential School students and their families before, during, and after their participation in Settlement Agreement processes.

Services include emotional support through the hearing process, help with preparing for claim hearings, and community-based educational seminars and workshops.
