Community Health Representative
Nisga'a Valley Health Authority
Provides services for the overall well-being and health of all community members. Health representatives' work with nurses and healthcare teams, recommend improvements in the delivery of health care, and act as a liaison with community leaders, agencies and providers.
Services may include health protection, client care, emergency preparedness, home visits, food safety, chronic disease prevention, and water safety.

Home Care Support
Nisga'a Valley Health Authority
Provides in-home assistance to Elders and members of the Nisga'a community in need, who require supportive care to be able to continue living in their home. The program is based on Aboriginal culture and may include help with medication, infection control, meal preparation, transportation, rehabilitative exercise, and personal care.

Provides crisis intervention, counselling, and substance use services to communities in the Nisga'a First Nation. Services include case management, group support, youth and Elder services, medication management, addiction counselling, and psychiatric services.

Non-Insured Health Benefits
Nisga'a Valley Health Authority
Provides assistance with accessing funding for eligible registered First Nation clients with medically required health services that are not provided on the reserve or in the community of residence. Services include a specified range of drugs, dental care, vision care, medical supplies and equipment, short-term crisis intervention, mental health counselling, and medical transportation.

Provides urgent and non-urgent health care services to members of Nisga'a First Nations and to the community. Services are prioritized based on the severity of a patient's condition upon arrival. Nursing staff are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.

Patient Travel Benefits
Nisga'a Valley Health Authority
Administers and coordinates medical travel to eligible First Nations clients on behalf of the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Health Benefits Program. The program provides funding for transportation to the closest appropriate medical professional and or facility for medical or health related services that are eligible through the BC Medical Service Plan or covered by FNHA.

Suicide Prevention

Provides individual and group counselling to Nisga'a First Nation community members who are having thoughts of suicide and depression. Services are also available to help with coping with grief after suicide, helping a suicidal person, and suicide prevention.
