Trail Family and Individual Resource Centre Society

Provides counselling to parents and children, or youth in times of family conflict or crisis. Program helps families with relationship issues, parenting issues, all aspects of abuse, parent-teen conflict resolution, assertiveness, and blended family issues. Funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

Provides support, socialization and skill development for children from families in crisis or in need of extra support. Also offers individual support and education for parents to enhance parenting skills and improve a family's ability to cope.

Provides 24-hour telephone help for anyone in crisis. A trained staff member or volunteer is available to listen, provide information, and support in an anonymous and confidential manner.

Program offers: suicide intervention, information about available services, and non-judgmental support during challenging times. Also takes gatekeeper calls regarding elder abuse and neglect.

Provides support and assistance to adults with mental health and addiction concerns, and their families; offering family and peer support, information and resources, and assistance with understanding mental health services and to develop a plan for change.

Offers a support group for parents of young children to share questions, learn new skills, discuss real-life parenting situations, and learn about child development, safety, health and behaviour.

Provides supportive, independent accommodation for women who have left abusive relationships or experienced past abuse. Program offers a 1-year individualized program with a focus on the development of life skills, achievement of individual goals, and connections to community resources.

Offers support, information, and resources for pregnant women, new parents, and families. Weekly groups include lunch, guest speakers, outreach visits, food vouchers, and free prenatal vitamins.

Provides free, confidential counselling for children and youth who have witnessed and or experienced abuse, threats, violence in the home, or other relationship violence. The program offers safety skills and strategies, and supports children to understand they are not at fault for abusive action of others.

Provides counselling and treatment for children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse and or sexual behaviour problems. The program helps children with managing or reducing problematic behaviours, and reducing trauma related symptoms.

Offers support to victims of spousal assault, sexual assault, and criminal harassment. Services include in-person or telephone support, referral to other agencies or professionals for counselling, access to free legal advice and assistance, and information on court processes.

Provides counselling to women who have experienced current or past relationship abuse, sexual assault, or physical, emotional or sexual abuse at any age.

Provides 24-hour emergency support and safe shelter in Trail for women leaving abusive or violent relationships. Offers crisis intervention, information and referrals, meals, laundry, and access to clothing donations. Also offers outreach services and a weekly drop-in group for women who choose to not stay at the transition house.
