Victoria Child Abuse Prevention and Counselling Centre

Provides individual, group and family counselling to child and youth victims of abuse. Children and youth generally participate in individual counselling sessions which may include their parents or caregivers.

Also offers individual or group support to parents or caregivers to strengthen family connection after trauma and may include family counselling as needed.

Provides child abuse prevention and education presentations, materials and training in the community. Provides presentations to children and youth in middle schools and high schools.

Provides support and information to child and youth victims and their families, referral to counselling or other appropriate community programs, and information and accompaniment throughout involvement with the criminal justice system.

Provides a safe place for physically, mentally and sexually abused children to share their story in a child-friendly space where they feel safe and welcome.

The centre provides advocacy, support and counselling by a multi-disciplinary team including the RCMP, municipal police, medical and trauma screening professionals, Ministry of Children and Family Development, and victim service workers.
