Victoria Cool Aid Society

Provides primary health and dental care for people who do not have medical coverage, or who live in the Victoria downtown core area. The clinic helps those in need, many of whom are homeless, have mental health and or addiction illnesses, and or other chronic health problems.

Offers primary care (family doctor or nurse practitioner).

Provides pharmacy services for individuals to obtain, understand and manage their prescriptions. Offers a range of prescriptions and over-the-counter medication; open to everyone - you do not need to be a Cool Aid patient.

Provides food, beds, hygiene services and additional supports at permanent and seasonal shelters in the Victoria area. Each shelter is designed to meet unique and varying needs of the community. Additional supports include mental health services, crisis and life skills counselling, advocacy, and help in finding housing.

Provides an outpatient methadone or suboxone treatment program in a supervised clinical setting for people who misuse opioids.

Provides a variety of short and long-term supports, depending on need, to help people with mental illness and or addictions. Supports may include outreach, crisis management, information and planning, advocacy, teaching social and life skills, mental health wellness, and access to community resources.

The program also offers an education and training program for adults who volunteer with agencies that support people who face barriers such as mental health challenges, addictions, poverty and social isolation.

Provides mental health and substance use information, referrals and resources to clients, families, and other agencies in the community. Information is available by drop-in to the centre or by phone. The resource centre offers community program information, reading material, housing and employment information, and use of computers, fax, copiers and phones.

Offers a variety of supportive and transitional housing options to support those in the Greater Victoria community who are marginalized for a variety of reasons, and are in need of safe, affordable housing.
