Provides expectant mothers with health information, resources, traditional teachings, growth charts, checklists, and a place to write down goals, thoughts, ideas, and dreams for their babies. With the passport, women can document their sacred traditional journey through pregnancy, birth, and baby's first few weeks.

Provides assessment and diagnosis of autism in children through a network of specialists and health care professionals across British Columbia.

Provides newborn hearing screening, diagnosis and intervention upon birth. Service open to all babies born in BC. Screening conducted in hospital before baby and mother are discharged, or local community audiologist will set up appointment.

Provides online information and resources to help BC residents stay informed about current public health concerns, issues and topics.

Health topics and resources include advance care planning, hearing loss, living with chronic illness, stroke, medical assistance in dying, preventing injury, environmental hazards, and healthy habits for life.

Provides care to individuals with a history of an inherited arrhythmia or inherited heart rhythm condition, an unexplained sudden cardiac arrest, or a family history of sudden unexpected death.

Clinics are held through two clinical sites in Vancouver and Victoria and may include genetic counselling, heart screening tests, and appointment with a heart rhythm specialist.

Provides a simple blood test to get important information about a newborn baby's health including rare and treatable disorders. Newborn babies are screened between 24 and 48 hours old, either in hospital before discharge, or at home if a home birth with a registered midwife. Screening and early detection allows for treatment that may prevent or greatly reduce health problems.

Offers online information and resources about prenatal genetic screening for Down syndrome, trisomy 18 or an open neural tube defect, for pregnant women in BC.

Provides program information and resources for parents of newborns to screen for biliary atresia, a rare but serious liver disease that begins to affect newborns in the first month of life. Parents are asked to check their newborn's stool colour against a colour card every day for the first month after birth. If they see an abnormal stool colour, they are to call or email the Biliary Atresia Home Screening Program directly.

Provides online up-to-date concussion education for parents, educators, and coaches to help manage a child with a concussion, as well as education for players and coaches on preventing and recognizing concussions. Also offers a clinical toolkit and online course for health professionals.

Offers confidential support services to help patients, families and healthcare teams who face complex, difficult ethical decisions. Areas of support include identifying the appropriate or justifiable course of action, balancing perspectives and values that inform decisions, handling disagreements to determine the best path forward, clarifying who should make the decision, and facilitating discussions about patient and family values. Offered in person or virtually per needs of the requester.

PHSA Ethics Service is centralized and serves all provincial agencies including but not limited to BC Cancer Agency, BC Centre for Disease Control, BC Children's Hospital and Sunny Hill Health Centre, BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, BC Mental Health and Substance Use, BC Emergency Health Services, and other agencies delivering PHSA's programs and services.
